My Housing Scholarship at the Vue on MacGregor has enabled me to become the most productive student within this last year with the luxury of an ease of the financial burden that every undergraduate student faces. Personally, this scholarship was much more than having the liberty to study freely, but also the gift of having a warm place to come home to after a long day. This was made possible by the kindness of great people and I encourage you to join the community at the Vue!

It honestly was so life changing. It was very nice to have because as a transfer student and my first time living in Tempe, it was really nerve wracking for me and just having this let me have a little bit of a back up and let me know that I won't have to worry so much about rent. It just put me at ease along with going to school, and just being able to really focus on what I'm here for which is my education. Having a supportive staff just really encouraged that.

I am struggling to find the words for a short quote about how much this scholarship means to me so I'm going to explain it best I can, mostly because I am speechless...
Having a place to live is probably one of the most important things in life, aside from having a job and money to eat. We do not question whether we will live somewhere or not because in life, we have no choice. We must work hard and pay rent to live. Living in Flagstaff to go to school is incredible, but finding somewhere affordable up here seems near impossible, that was until I found the Commons. Not only are you guys affordable, you support students while they are in school. School is the most important thing to me because I do not want to struggle. To be honest, I had to take out loans to live up here, and now that I have this housing scholarship for a year, I can focus on the other important things in life that we often neglect or cannot afford.
This housing scholarship means the absolute world to me. I cry every time I think about how generous the commons was to give us this opportunity. I have never won anything in my life, and to win something to big has me speechless. I cannot afford health care, and with being in a big accident and also just finding out yesterday I have to have surgery again, it puts so much stress on me.
If I could describe how much this housing scholarship meant to me, I could talk forever, but one thing it is allowing me to do is purchase health insurance, at least for one year and not worry so much while I'm in school full-time. Someday, I hope to have enough money and give back like the Nelson brothers did for me. Thank you, a thousand times, for allowing me to go into my junior year of college, covered by health insurance and being able to focus solely on my 16 credits I will be in and recovering from surgery.
Winning this housing scholarship means so much more than a two sentence quote, so I will say "thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Nelson Brothers". No one will ever be able to understand the opportunities you have opened up for me as I go into my junior year of college. Because of this scholarship, I will now be able to put myself on health insurance and focus on recovery after surgery I am about to undergo and the full-time classes I am enrolled in. This housing scholarship is one of the best things that could have ever happened to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Much love, Chelsey Seaton

I was able to win the 2nd place scholarship which was paid rent for half the year. This scholarship really helped me out by not having to worry about my rent and was able to not work all semester and really focus on my studies! It’s a great scholarship and I would persuade everyone to enter!
